Water temperatures vary around the lake. The surface temperature, top 2-3 ft, can be different day to day based on water inflow and sun exposure.
Please respect the water. When open water swimming we encourage you to go with a buddy or two, have a swim buoy or paddleboarder along, and be visible with bright colored swim cap or swim buoy. Practice your open water swimming and know that our lake temperature is likely to be between 58-65 degrees. Practice in cold water will help your body prepare for race day and reduce the impact of the mammalian dive reflex.
Auke Lake is a shared use lake. Motorized water craft and the occasional float plane are allowed between 9am-10pm from June through August. Plan your swims accordingly.
