1.5k/0.9mile Swim
Starts @ 6:45am.
White buoys will mark a course that starts from the UAS boat dock and ends at the Auke Lake boat ramp. The swim heads out towards the middle of the lake and gorgeous views of the Mendenhall Glacier. Right turns will be made at white triangular buoys. After a left turn thorough a swim gate the course follows the shoreline to the public boat ramp. T1 starts at the boat ramp with a jog up to the transition area in the UAS parking lot.
Cutoff for leaving transition: 8:20am.

40k/24mile Bike
Bike to the glacier, out to Tee Harbor, and back.
Depart the transition area, heading out Auke Lake Way towards Mendenhall Loop Road. Turn right and stay on Mendenhall Loop to Glacier Spur Rd. Turn left for a gorgeous ride towards the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center. There is a sharp looping turn at the end of Glacier Spur Road. Use caution. This has been our most common spot for wipe outs. Head back to Mendenhall Loop Rd for a right turn. Continue on Mendenhall Loop Rd to the Auke Bay traffic circle and head “out the road” north on Glacier Hwy. The turn around will be at the large, 2nd pullout above Tee Harbor.
Cutoff for leaving transition: 11am.

10k/6.2 mile run
Leave transition on the pedestrian trail from the UAS parking lot down to the Auke Lake boat ramp. Run through the parking lot and continue onto the trail along Glacier Hwy. Turn left onto Auke Lake Trail. Run the hilly, gravel trail to Goat Hill Rd. Turn right to follow Goat Hill Rd to the east. Continue onto Mendenhall Loop Rd, staying in the south side bike lane. Run Mendenhall Loop Rd to a right turn onto Black Bear Rd. Near the bottom of Black Bear Rd is the trail head for Black Bear Trail which runs down to and along Montana Creek. This trail is currently being improved by Trail Mix in partnership with Trout Unlimited and Team Rubicon. Take Black Bear Trail to a right turn onto Kaxdigoowu Heen Dei, then left onto the pedestrian bridge over the Mendenhall River. Run a clockwise lap around the outside of the Thunder Mountain Track before running back over the Mendenhall River. Take a left turn, then a fork to the right onto a gravel access road which will merge with Karl Reishus Blvd. A right turn puts runners back onto the pedestrian trail along Glacier Hwy all the way back to the boat launch and UAS campus for a finish in the plaza.
